“Ooh La La” by Goldfrapp

Without a shred of doubt, “Ooh La La” is an amorous love song though one that is not overtly sexual, unless the listener possesses a solid understanding of what terminology like celebrating the addressee as a “child of Venus” points to.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Goldfrapp's Ooh La La at Lyrics.org.

But as generally understood, what the vocalist is speaking of is the concept of casual sex. Or let’s say that she is primarily interested in the addressee in a sexual capacity and that being established doesn’t want to beat around the bush in realizing that goal.

And based on a couple of lines in the bridge, it seems that this individual is not as down for the cause or in the very least is playing hard to get. But the vocalist herself ‘needs’ some loving, which is the idea the title of this song ultimately points to.

The “Supernature” Album

Ooh La La is a synth-pop song recorded and written by British music duo Goldfrapp in 2005. The song is the lead single of the duo’s third studio album, Supernature.

Mute Records released Supernature on August 17, 2005. The duo wrote the majority of the songs on the album and produced the whole album. They have stated that they wrote all of the songs at a small house they rented near Bath, England. They described their experience writing music in that location as a very focused and basic process devoid of noise and other distractions.

Upon its release, Supernature received positive receptions from many music critics and reviewers. Rolling Stone magazine placed it at the 32nd on their list of the Best albums of 2006.

The album was second on the weekly UK Albums chart (OCC) and peaked at number 5 on Billboard’s America’s Top Dance Albums chart. It has since gone to be the recipient of a gold and platinum certification from Ireland and the UK, respectively.
