In the first verse, Kate doesn’t beat about the bush and says that the reason for the breakup was catching her partner sleeping with someone else. The frustration builds up more when he denies the fact. Furthermore, to feed his ego, he tells his friends that Kate would be “lost without” him, in hopes of making himself look attractive to them. Sure, she doesn’t disagree with that, but Kate definitely knows how to make her revenge sweet.

And how does she do that? By making a list of all the things she hates about him (as the title goes). In this list, she puts up ten factors without holding back any information. Probably the biggest blow to a man’s ego would be his ex-partner dissing him on how bad he is in the bedroom, to the point of her faking it.

With her ex-partner being “toxic” at number five and that she “can’t trust” him at number four, one can easily assume that this relates to when she caught him cheating and his denial to it.

Akin to Miley Cyrus’ “7 Things”, Kate ends her list with “the fact that you made me love you” as the top thing she hates about him. As any bad breakup goes, this would often come to mind as the realisation of having time and energy wasted on a person only for the relationship to end as such can be frustrating.

What else did Kate’s ex do?

Besides sleeping with someone else, he also enjoyed his beers too much to the point of being drunk. Furthermore, he is apparently a heavy smoker – something Kate really hates about her ex. It doesn’t stop there! Kate goes on to reveal that he unashamedly uses his dad’s money for his beers.

Great song very catchy but a sincere pity that there seems a need to use such unnecessary expletives in songs these days. I still cannot understand A – The need to do this as it impresses no-one and B – How it is allowed to get past the censor. Look we are not stupid we all know these words but is it really an essential element of a song to spout profanities… such a waste
