“Black Holocaust” by Drakeo the Ruler (ft. Rio Da Yung OG)
“Black Holocaust” is a song based on gun-toting street violence. Throughout, the artists basically come off as drug dealers and robbers who aren’t hesitant to resort to the gat when they deem a situation calls for it. Indeed the simplest definition of the word “holocaust” is an event in which a large amount of people are killed. And what the homeys are saying in the chorus is that they’re down to initiate a “holocaust” in the name for “killing [expletive] for these jewels”.
In other words, they’re armed robbers who aren’t afraid to shoot. And the entire title, “Black Holocaust”, seemingly points to the idea that fellow Black people are their intended victims. Or another way of looking at this track is as it being an ode to violent Black-on-Black crime, especially in regards to the artists themselves being the criminals.
Secondary Theme of “Black Holocaust”
A secondary theme of this track is the artists’ interactions with women. But they too can end up serving as factors in their illicit schemes. For instance, if it is ascertained that a female associate has access to a large amount of contraband or money, then she too can get jacked.
And overall, “Black Holocaust” plays out like a beef track. For instance, in the chorus the artists call out someone who is “courageous with (his) fingers”, i.e. making threats on social media. But in response they let it be known that their intent is to actually carry out real threats, basically insinuating they’re going to go to his mother’s residence and start killing people. So at the end of the day, even though this song deals with some very-serious subject matter, it’s more or less common in regards to the gun-centric content which fans of rap music are all too familiar with.
