“Draw Down the Moon” by Foxing
It is not abundantly clear what the vocalist means via his desire “to draw down the moon”. Perhaps he is actually speaking to the idea of taking the moon out of its orbit and ‘drawing’ it down to Earth.
Of course such is a fantastical concept, and all things considered whatever it is he’s talking about doing to the titular celestial body, obviously he doesn’t mean it literally. Rather the whole moon-related idea is evidently intended to be a metaphor for how much he loves the addressee.
And said addressee apparently would be his significant other. Moreover the reason he’s making such a wild claim is because by the looks of things she’s on the verge of leaving him.
They both apparently love one another. However, he is also convinced that she is not totally satisfied in their relationship. And by the looks of things, this is made most evident by her having stated or displayed a desire to bounce.
So now has come the time for him to prove how much he loves her. But once again going back to the ridiculousness, if you will, of the titular expression, the implication would be that at this point he feels there is little to nothing he can actually do to salvage this union.
In other words, he’s not going to be able to actually “to draw down the moon”. So it’s more like what he’s saying is that if he could do something this fantastic he would, once again just to prove to the addressee that he “can keep it all together”, i.e. is worthy of her continued commitment.
Or what we’re trying to get at is that this song reads like a message from a desperate dude to the lady who is about to leave him, entreating her not to do so. No, it doesn’t appear that he’s begging or anything like that. But he does seem convinced, one way or another, that he is on the verge of losing her.
And considering that he does love her, that idea is disturbing him significantly. So whereas he may not be able to convince her with actions he’s rather trying to do so with words, as best he can.
