Mary Lambert
Mary Lambert is a songwriter, singer, poet and spoken word artist from the United States. She gained international stardom after she was featured on the hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ 2012 hit single Same Love. Besides her work with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, she is known for releasing popular singles such as Secrets, She Keeps Me Warm and Hang out with You.
Away from music, Lambert is also known for her relentless promotion of the rights of the LGBTQ community.

- She was born in Seattle, Washington.
- She grew up in a very abusive household with a father who frequently abused her sexually.
- Lambert suffers from bipolar disorder. Before she was diagnosed of bipolar disorder, she heavily used drugs and alcohol.
- At the age of 17, Lambert came out as a lesbian.
- Barely a year after coming out as a lesbian, she attempted to commit suicide. Today, she says she is happy to alive.
- Growing up, Lambert struggled fiercely with her sexuality, weight issues and bipolar disorder, among several other negative things.
- At the age of 16 she was gang raped. According to her, the unfortunate incident occurred when she illegally entered into an army barracks.
- As a kid, Lambert’s family was excommunicated from their church after her mother came out as a homosexual. Lambert began writing songs and playing the piano when she was just 6 years old. According to her, music was her only way to escape from the traumatic experiences she was going through in her abusive household.
- During her live shows, Lambert often encourages her fans to cry. She describes her live shows as a safe haven for crying.
- In 2013, Lambert began a romantic relationship with singer and songwriter Michelle Chamuel.
- Contrary to what some people think, Lambert isn’t related to fellow singer Adam Lambert.
- Before gaining fame in the entertainment industry, she made a living working as a bartender and waitress.
- Lambert initially wanted to be an opera singer but gave that dream up after realizing that to be an opera singer one would have to give up things such as cigarettes and whiskey.
