“Mon Soleil” by Ashley Park

“Mon Soleil” is derived from the soundtrack of a television show and accordingly is featured on one of its episodes as a plot device. Therefore it is possible that it is based on a relationship between a couple of characters on the program (though such doesn’t seem like the case).

But with that established, what this song, whose title translates to “My Sun”, is speaking to is a romance between the vocalist and addressee. And what the singer’s sentiments are premised on is her asserting that she and this guy are special, particularly to each other. In other words, ‘they are not like the other girls and guys’. This means that the bond that exists between them is unique, akin to a soul mating.

And that brings us to the thesis sentiment, which basically revolves around the singer trying to lock the addressee down.

That is to say that on top of their rapport, she also relishes the pleasing physical connection that they share. Also, as such situations usually entail, it seems that certain spoken commitments have been made between the two of them.

So conclusively, on top of letting the addressee know that she does indeed love him, the vocalist is more or less seeking additional assurance that he is in fact in it for the long haul.

Or viewed alternatively, the lyrics sorta read like the two of them are fooling around but aren’t an actual item. So that is where Ashley is seemingly trying to take it to. She wants she and the addressee to officially become a monogamous, committed couple. And she definitely esteems him highly, more so than the other potential lovers floating about.
