“Can’t Live Without You” meets with Controversy
The song’s nomination at the Grammys generated controversy as critics thought the song was not good enough. Walser’s Recording Academy membership helped in fueling the speculation. Simply put, a lot of people suspected foul play in the song’s Grammy nomination.
Bill Freimuth, the vice president of the Academy told the media how Walser likely got the nomination. According to him, Walser was very aggressive in marketing his song to the voting membership, hence their decision to vote for it. He further explained, ballots are audited by Deloitte, an accounting and audit firm of great repute.
