“LALA” by Myke Towers

Myke Towers is a Puerto Rican hip-hop musician with a discography dating back to 2016. Between then and as of the release of “Lala” on 23 March 2023 he has dropped three studio albums, the first of which, “Easy Money Baby” (2020), proved particularly successful.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Myke Towers's LALA at Lyrics.org.

And as for “Lala”, it came out as part of his third LP, “La Vida Es Luna”, which was made public through these labels:

  • White World Music
  • One World Music
  • Warner Music Latina

This track was produced by YannC El Armónico and Chalko, both of whom also get songwriting credit alongside these:

  • Myke Towers
  • Siggy
  • J. Batyxta
  • Orland Jovani Cepeda Matos

“La Vida Es Luna” is an album of 23 tracks, and it appears that “Lala” managed to blow up on its own, i.e. without being formally released as a single, via the likes of TikTok and Spotify. In any event THIS GONG has thus proven a chart topper, reaching number one in Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Spain and having also thus far been certified gold in the latter.

The Lyrics of “LALA”

This is a love song, or perhaps we can more accurately say, by the time all is said and done, one of infatuation or admiration. Besides for the vocalist, the subject is a lady whom the vocalist first “fell in love” with while dancing with her, and the rest of the song by and large remains dance focused.

But obviously, there are also some sexual innuendos embedded therein also. And the third verse operates a bit differently, rather focusing more on Myke’s high perception of himself and him flexin’ with this pretty lady by his side.

But the main point being made throughout is something like the two of them being a dirty dancing pair, one that isn’t afraid to get raunchy even if there’s onlookers around. That seems to be the way in which this lady is challenging Towers.

The interesting thing about these lyrics is whereas they are largely adult-oriented, at the same time there really isn’t anything NSFW about them. And concerning the title, Myke touts himself as being this lady’s “Carmelo”.

Whom he is most likely referring to is NBAer Carmelo Anthony, who was formerly married to an actress by the name of La La (Anthony). La La is known, as part of her profession, to have engaged in some hot sex scenes, which may be why the song is named so. In other words, the title may be an expression of Towers’ own attraction to La La Anthony, or maybe this girl he’s grinding with resembles the actress somehow.

“La-la-la-la-la-la
Tú quieres, mami (La-la-la-la-la-la)
Se le viran los ojo’ (La-la-la-la-la-la)
La miro y se relambe (La-la-la-la-la-la)
El pintalabio’ rojo (La-la-la-la-la-la)
Esa cintura suelta (La-la-la-la-la-la)
Baby, si yo te cojo (La-la-la-la-la-la)
Te subo a la altura (La-la-la-la-la-la)
Tú dime y te recojo (La-la-la-la-la-la)”
