Meaning of “Come On World, You Can’t Go!” by Frank Ocean
“Come On World, You Can’t Go!” is a freestyle and furthermore one that is a lengthy nine minutes’ long. So there’s a whole lot being relayed here. But to note, the sentimental original of this piece dates back to the tragic passing of Frank’s brother, Ryan, who was only 18 at the time.
And presumably relatedly, the lyrics have a nostalgic feel, with Ocean spending ample time harping back to his days in the ‘hood. Besides that there is a romantic storyline permeating throughout the first few verses, and at times it overlaps with the allusions to how dangerous the streets of New Orleans, where Frank grew up, actually are.
“Selling like red light pu–y
Gotta waterfall douche it
Level head on the cushion
Light pink I’m revving
Light green, I’m someone like you, someone like me
Ring finger might sure get token
Wrist like springs, natural springs, water green indoor cookie
Other than me and you, ain’t nobody else coming between, the glue stuck”
Death of Ocean’s Brother
On August 2, 2020, Ocean’s younger brother, Ryan Breaux and his friend Ezekiel Bishop tragically passed away in a car accident in Thousand Oaks, California. Both Ryan and Ezekiel were in their early twenties at the time of the incident.
The accident involved a single vehicle, which was reported to have collided with a tree in the early morning hours. Emergency responders pronounced both individuals dead at the scene due to the severity of the crash. The impact was so forceful that the car was almost completely destroyed.
