Ace of Base

Ace of Base is a pop band from Sweden who dropped five albums between 1992 and 2010. Even though two of its founding members, Jonas Berggren and Ulf Ekberg, have kept the group’s name alive throughout the years, by and large Ace of Base had stopped making music as of the 2010s. Yet their legacy is still very much intact, as they rank amongst the most-successful musical acts in Sweden’s history. In fact their first album, “Happy Nation”/ “The Sign” (1992/1993) holds the distinction of being one of the top-selling debut efforts ever released. Indeed few musicians can actually boost of coming out with the second-highest selling album of any year, as “The Sign” did in 1994, even besting acts such as Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey in the process. And as of the year 2002, Ace of Base had sold in excess of 30,000,000 copies of their first four albums combined.

In addition to Jonas and Ulf, the other two founding members of Ace of Base were Jonas’s siblings Linn and Jenny Berggren. In 2007 it was announced that Linn, whose interactions with the band had been steadily decreasing, was permanently leaving the group. And Jenny followed suit in 2012.

One of the group’s best known songs is their 1992 hit “All That She Wants“.
