“After A Few” by Travis Denning
As you may already have deduced, the “few” which Travis Denning is referring to is alcoholic beverages. And he is addressing someone he was romantically linked with, more specifically his ex-girlfriend. Furthermore it can be said that the sentimental foundation of “After A Few” is that whereas they have indeed broken up, he feels that such was for the best. And perhaps the same can be said for her disposition. But “after a few” drinks – that is to say after they get drunk and get to fraternizing – they inevitably find themselves back in each other’s arms for the night.
So on one hand, it can be said that the singer is lamenting getting caught up in this cycle. But on another, it seems that he is ever willing to put himself in such a position in the first place.
