Bananarama

Bananarama is an all-female pop-music group hailing from London, England. Their original and most-celebrated lineup consists of homeys Siobhan Fahey, Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward. Fahey, who can be considered the most-popular amongst them, first left the group in 1988, though she does occasionally rejoin Dallin and Woodward. And when she did leave the first time another singer, Jacquie O’ Sullivan, briefly served as a member of the group.

Bananarama came out during the early 1980s when all-female bands were more of a novelty. But more to the point, they dropped a number of hits throughout the years.  Indeed they hold the distinction of earning a Guinness World Record in terms of being the all-female band with the most songs that actually charted. Moreover during the 1980s they were nominated for 10 Billboard Music Awards. And by the turn of the century they had reportedly sold about 40,000,000 records.

Jacquie O’Sullivan herself left in 1991. So since then Bananarama has been primarily a two-woman act consisting of Woodward and Dallin. But that has not deterred them from making music. For in-between the group’s first album, “Deep Sea Skiving”, in 1983 and 2019’s “In Stereo”, Bananarama has dropped 11 studio albums altogether.
