“Fireworks (I’m The One)” by ATEEZ

“Fireworks (I’m The One)” is a braggadocious track, K-pop style. What that means in this particular case is that the artists are bragging about their success. But it isn’t in the sense of them being paid or anything like that. Rather their pride is two-fold.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for ATEEZ's Fireworks (I'm The One) (불놀이야) at Lyrics.org.

First the homeys are able to perceive that there are a lot of wannabes out there, i.e. others who wish they had their standing.  The implication is that such individuals are akin to haters. Indeed the vocalist refers to these types as “drunk fools”, which of course is a less-than-flattering statement. And this leads to Ateez also touting themselves, conversely, as being “sober”.

And such is what the subtitle of the track points to. The singer(s) perceives himself as being “the one” – or as some would say Stateside the sh*t – when he’s “in (his) zone”. Stated otherwise, he is confident and holds himself in very high regard.

And the overall implication behind the refrain is that Ateez not only believe that they are superior to their competitors but moreover are so at least partially due to their discipline and how such translates into their overall product.

And indeed their overall product is the main issue at hand here. For as you have probably already deduced, the titular “fireworks” points to the explosiveness, shall we say, of Ateez’s music and performances.

In all…

At the end of the day, this is of course K-pop we are dealing with. As such, the artists at hand can’t just boast and leave the listener hanging like that. Instead there has to be some words of wisdom or encouragement imparted along the way also. And this song features such, even if only briefly, with Ateez reminds the audience that they too have their “own passion”.

The band however, fails to expound on this idea. However, the overall implication is something like just as they have blown up via their music, the listener can also achieve their place in the world by doing his or her own thing. And they may even be addressing this statement to their haters also, advising them to focus on their own endeavors as opposed to, you know, hatin’.

But with all of that being noted, the thesis sentiment of the lyrics, as in the one point which comes through the most, is quite simply. And that is Ateez possesses the ability to get the party jumping.
