“I Can Almost See You” by Hammock
Hammock’s “I Can Almost See You” is primarily an instrumental. It only consists of one full sentence, that being “I see you”. So as for the “can almost” found in the title, such is not present in the lyrics themselves.
Owing to this, considering that there are only 15 words uttered in total, all of which are either “I”, “see” or “you”, that means this piece is open to listener interpretation. As for the instrumental itself, it’s what some may describe as having an ethereal quality. It is not the type of track that someone would sing over per se. It is one designed for meditation, deep thought or what have you.
And there does appear to be an official music video to this piece, as hosted by Hammock’s YouTube channel. The theme of associated visuals would suggest that the addressee, i.e. the person whom the vocalist is assuring he’s ‘seeing’, is someone who is perhaps alienated or lonely.
So with that in mind, the reason he would make such a statement to her would logically be so that such emotions don’t overtake this individual. Put simply, he is letting the addressee know that there is someone out there who, in the very least, cares about her wellbeing.
But then when you add the titular “can almost” to the equation, it’s as if the conclusive message being relayed is that despite such an intent on the part of the singer, the person he’s singing to, to some considerable degree, still remains out of reach.

Hammock
Hammock is a musical act from Nashville. It is made up of two musicians, Andrew Thompson and Marc Byrd. Both of them are classified as guitarists, which would explain why “I Can Almost See You” is one of very few words.
That said, the pair must be really good at what they do. And why? Hammock has come out with 11 studio albums between 2005 and 2021. That’s really impressive!
“I Can Almost See You”
This track is from the second studio album that Hammock released. The album in question is titled “Raising Your Voice Trying to Stop an Echo”. Darla Records originally released it on 21 November 2006. The band’s own label, Hammock Music, reissued it in 2011.
The director of the aforenoted music video is David Altobelli.
