In the verses of “I Will Go with You”, Donna Summer depicts herself as someone who is “stranded alone on a sea of emotion”. In other words, this exchange is premised on her having been lonely.

But then the addressee came into her life and proved to be a genuine loved one. So now she has found release from her emotional solitude. Indeed it can be further said that the love of this individual has given the vocalist’s life new meaning. 

So accordingly, in the title/chorus, she is expressing a willingness to follow him wherever he may lead. And no, Donna never goes as far as to explicitly identify this relationship as a romance. But all lyrics considered, that seems to be most logically what’s going on here.

The “Live and More Encore” Album

American singer Donna Summer performed her version of Andrea Bocelli’s 1995 song Con te partirò (“With You I Shall Leave”) in February 1999She titled her version I Will Go with You (Con te partirò), and it was released as the last song on the album titled, Live And More Encore.

Live And More Encore is the singer’s live album, and Epic Records released it on July 6, 1999. The album consists of a live concert in which Donna Summer performed many of her biggest hit songs released between 1970 and 1980.

Her performance of 1979 hit songs, Dim All the Lights and No More Tears (Enough is Enough), were critical highlights of the concert as it gained the most cheers from her audience. It also included two 1999 live studio-recorded songs, Love Is the Healer, and I Will Go with You (Con te partirò). The album consists of a total of thirteen songs.

As of the writing of this post, the album has gone platinum in Spain. It has also sold over half a million copies globally.
