“Jennifer” by Trinidad Cardona
Trinidad Cardona’s “Jennifer” is a song that, in a way, was never meant to be. So with that in mind, perhaps some listeners will find the early goings of the narrative a bit confusing. But Trinidad has offered plenty of commentary concerning its meaning, and as the story plays out it becomes more obvious that the thesis sentiment does revolve around the vocalist being in his feelings as the result of screwing up his relationship with one Jennifer, his ‘first love’.
But that is not to say that Cardona faithfully sticks to that sentiment throughout. Instead, by the time all is said and done, this piece evolves into sort of an exercise in braggadocio. Indeed Trinidad has pointed out, concerning the creation of “Jennifer”, that he’s first and foremost a rapper and therefore had to be more or less forced to sing throughout this track.
In the second verse his rap side does come through, complete with the vocalist bragging about the toughness of this crew and his exploits with “only foreign women”.
But in terms of his interactions with other ladies, as presented, even if in a prideful fashion, that is the vocalist’s way of mitigating the pain associated with losing Jennifer. But all things considered, you can tell that even if Trinidad is disappointed in the aftermath of their breakup, it isn’t such that he’s an emotional wreck or anything like that.

Facts about “Jennifer”
This song came out on 26 March 2017, back when Trinidad Cardona was 17 years old. As it currently stands, that era, i.e. 2017, marks the brief heyday of his musical career.
“Jennifer” led to him being signed by Island Records. However, after lackluster album sales, they promptly parted ways with the young singer.
Cardona more recently re-signed with Island after another of his 2017 tunes, “Dinero”, eventually went viral in 2021.
“Jennifer” itself, at the time it came out, was a viral hit. And as explained by Cardona, it was a song which initially was concocted on the fly, one that “wasn’t supposed to be anything serious”. And this was before the days of TikTok, so the tune actually blew up via Facebook and most notably, it would seem, in Brazil.
Also to note, the version of the early song which eventually led to him signing with Island, it was actually only a video of chorus which was filmed inside of the bathroom of his high school. So after that particular segment achieved virality, that’s when Trinidad proceeded to actually turn the chorus into an entire song.
There is an official music video to Jennifer, as directed by Yung Pedro.
The Universal Music Group also backed the official release of this track.
Trinidad Cardona produced this song with Marquell O’Connor. Trinidad is also a credited writer of this song. Other co-writers are:
- Jeffrey Allen
- Keri Lewis
- Ricky Kinchen
