“Love of Mine” by Imagine Dragons

The easiest way of understanding Imagine Dragons’ “Love of Mine” would be to presume that the addressee is a romantic interest, and that Dan is taking on the role of someone who kinda comes off as if he’s the victim of unrequited love.

Or in any event, he doesn’t appear wholly confident that said addressee will receive him. But it should be noted that there does not appear to be any overtly-romantic lingo in this piece, besides for, if you want to take it as such, Reynolds referring to this person as the ‘love of his’.

So conclusively, since it doesn’t appear that Imagine Dragons ever revealed the meaning behind this song, it can be said that the lyrics possess – to some extent – a general applicability. In other words, we do not know specifically who the vocalist is singing to. Put simply, we don’t know the actual nature of their relationship. But it would be someone whom he feels he needs in his life. However, he’s obviously not convinced that such a level of affection is mutual.
