Masked Wolf

Harry Michael, popularly known by his stage name Masked Wolf, is a Greek-Australian songwriter and rapper. He developed a passion for music at a young age and learned to play musical instruments like the piano, guitar, and drums.

At the age of 13, He began to write his songs and raps. He nicknamed himself Masked Wolf because he feels aside from music, he is a normal guy to everyone and it is only in the studio that he becomes extraordinary. Here, the beast and wolf in him come out, hence the name, Masked Wolf. He quit his day job and decided to make music the full-time career of his life. 

He signed his record deal with Teamwrk Records. In December 2018, he released his debut single titled “Speed Racer”. Even though the song was not a major hit, it earned him recognition and popularity in Australia.

He released several singles in 2019, including “Vibin” and “Numb”, which were songs that addressed sensitive topics in society such as drug addiction, mental health, and peer pressure.

Wolf became known for his positive and culturally injected lyrics and this exponentially grew his fan base and fame. As of 2020, he had officially released 10 songs in his career with Teamwrk records.

He signed a multi-album deal with Elektra Records in January 2021. The deal was that Elektra records would represent him across the globe except in Australia and New Zealand, where his old label, Teamwrk Records, will represent him.

Astronaut in the Ocean

In January 2021, he released a song titled “Astronaut in the Ocean“. The song centers on his mental state. In the song, he revealed how he battled depression and anxiety as a rapper. “Astronaut in the Ocean” became a hit shortly after its release, and it is the song with which he is most identified.

It entered into the top-10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it his first song to appear on the chart. It also achieved chart success in many European countries and was in the top forty songs in over 30 countries. The song has been certified platinum by ARIA and has received gold certifications in about four European countries. It has surpassed a hundred million streams on Spotify and is among the most searched for songs on Shazam.

The song was added to the “Shazam predictions 2021” a popular playlist made by Apple music and Shazam. It is one of the most used songs on social media networks like Snapchat and TikTok. Many TikTok enthusiastic users and celebrities including Jennifer Lopez have used the song to dance in their posts. He later released a remix version of the song and it featured vocals from American rappers DDG and G-Eazy.

He has cited Eminem as a huge influence on the development of his music career as a rapper. However, he later revealed that as he matured he became more influenced by musicians like Drake, Hopsin, and Kevin Gates.
