And what is being put forth is simple enough to decipher. Loren takes on the role of an up-and-coming singer. So when she proclaims that it’s “never enough for her”, that’s a poetic way of saying that, most simply put, that she is striving to make it big, being discontent with where her life is at the moment.

And so it is with P.T. Barnum, i.e. the main character of the film, as portrayed by Jackman. Thus, it has been concluded that within context, “Never Enough” serves as a plot device in The Greatest Showman, pointing to the strivations of the primary protagonist(s).

Facts about “Never Enough”

This is one of the songs to be found on “The Greatest Showman: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”, which was one of the most successful movie soundtracks to ever come out. The song itself was made public with the rest of album, via Atlantic Records, on 8 December 2017.

Loren Allred, a singer who was born to a couple of musicians, did not actually appear in The Greatest Showman (2017). She sang “Never Enough” from the perspective one of the characters therein, “Jenny Lind”, who is actually portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson. Ferguson is strictly an actress, not a singer, which is why the task fell into Allred’s hands.

To note, Allred isn’t a famous singer. Prior to participating on The Greatest Showman soundtrack, her biggest claim was being a contestant on The Voice in 2012, wherein she didn’t necessarily fare too well. However, in 2022, at the age of 32, she was able to use “Never Enough” to get off to a good start on Britain’s Got Talent, despite some fans of the show feeling that a singer with her résumé should not be allowed to compete on what is generally considered to be an amateur competition.

The soundtrack to The Greatest Showman was so well received that it spawned a cover album, “The Greatest Showman: Reimagined” (2018), which also did pretty well for itself. And in that case, “Never Enough” was sung by Kelly Clarkson.

Loren has such lovely control and vocal range. She connected to her audience early and did not disappoint. I only hope she can overcome her doubters and win the votes needed to get to the finals. She’s looking for a break that leads to a contract for her career more than winning a contest.
