“New President” by Mt. Joy

It’s safe to say that Donald Trump has been the most-derided President in modern US history. And although he is not specifically namedropped in New President, for all intents and purposes this is indeed an anti-Trump song. For what we basically have here is Mt. Joy’s call to action. And the goal which they are espousing is bringing a “new President” into power. Indeed they perceive the current commander-in-chief, as well as his cohorts, as being “fascist clowns”. Moreover they actually released this tune in the midst of a Presidential election. So it doesn’t take rocket science to understand what’s being put forth here. The band is not pleased with the government currently running America. So they are doing what they can to encourage the election of a “new” one.

Mt. Joy released this track on 30 October 2020, with US Election Day of that year falling on 3 November.
