“One More Sleep” by Leona Lewis
“One More Sleep” is sung from the perspective of someone who is very-anxiously anticipating the arrival of Christmas. However, it is not to open gifts or engage in general holiday cheer. Rather it is during this time that her “baby” is coming home. And whereas it is never stated outrightly what kind of relationship she has with this person, it is obvious that it is her lover. For instance, she references them sleeping together and dreaming of him in relation to a “mistletoe”. In fact, this current December is the ‘coldest and loneliest’ she ever experienced. So it is only appropriate that she sings an ode dedicated to soon being passionately embraced by her lover.
