“Rocket” by Goldfrapp

The way the story of Goldfrapp’s “Rocket” reads is that first of all, the narrator would be addressing her lover. And what has apparently gone down is that, after enduring BS from him for so long, she has finally caught him in the act of cheating.

So what the title of this song acts as is a symbol of her conclusive sentiment. For now she has resolved to dead this romance once and for good. Or stated differently, the bulk of the lyrics are dedicated to the cause of letting the addressee know that no matter how hard he may try, this time around he’s not getting another chance.

The “Head First” Album

The British duo Goldfrapp released the synth-pop song, Rocket, in March 2010. The song is the lead single from the duo’s fifth studio album, Head First.

Mute Records released Head First on March 19, 2010. The duo wrote all the tracks on the album and produced the entire album as well. Goldfrapp has stated that they had to rush in the album’s recording due to some management issues. However, despite the rush, the quality of the album remained. They also explained that the album’s upbeat nature was because they wanted to create an album that brought a sense of euphoria, romance, and fantasies that could carry the listener on.

AllMusic rated the album as a 4 out of a 5-star album and stated that the duo’s incorporation of different styles and genres makes the album distinctive. Both the Guardian and the Independent rated the album as a 3 out of a 5-star album.

Head First reached number six on the UK Albums Chart and number 45 on the Billboard 200 chart. At the 53rd Grammy awards ceremony, it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Dance Album. In addition, it has received a silver status from the United Kingdom (BPI).
