“Romantic Homicide” by D4vd

D4vd’s “Romantic Homicide” is a song which features some pretty powerful imagery, as implied by its title and influenced by the era in which it was dropped. But what is more realistically being put forth behind all of the references to the addressee dying and even being “killed” by the vocalist isn’t that said individual is actually deceased. If the person was, then there would be no purpose for D4vd to go on this romance-related tirade to begin with.

Instead, the way the lyrics read give the impression that the addressee is the vocalist’s ex and furthermore one who cheated on and/or dumped the vocalist. When she did so, the narrator didn’t have any type of overt emotional reaction. This was so much so that on the outside, D4vd even appeared “complacent”. But internally, the wording reveals that the narrator is mad AF. Or going back to the motif of this entire piece, the vocalist now considers her dead. He therefore is making a conscientious effort to forget the addressee exists, so to speak.

But of course, you can’t just erase memories and emotions. This is even more challenging especially when these memories are associated with someone like a former significant other.

So all things considered, it may be that D4vd even went as far as to fantasize about murdering the addressee. And the reason such a theory is feasible is because the narrator does close out this exercise by frankly verifying that he now ‘hates’ her.

I love this song, but it also makes me feel sad,i think the song means maybe that he thinks that he was happy back then but his happy side died and now he is just idk tired, or my other theory is that he is waiting for someone but they never arrived so he kept waiting and so he trusted them and so they died in his mind. My OPINION

This song is so poetic, I genuinely think the song means he spend time with someone who kept bread-crumbing him for a while and the only way to get over them was to pretend they passed. Just to make that pain easier on themselves and less responsibility on other person. He put that responsibility to himself towards the end when we officially accepted that the person for who they truly were, like taking off the rose color glasses.
