“Seven Tears” by Goombay Dance Band
“Seven Tears” puts an interesting spin on the usual ‘I miss you’ theme by featuring some highly-metaphorical lyrics. But ultimately, they all lead back to the idea of the singer being in a lonely, depressed state without the addressee, the one he loves. That is what the symbol of the “seven tears” basically means. Furthermore, the implication is that they are separated by a great distance. And it appears more than anything else that he really, really wants her to know that he misses her.
Goomba Dance Band is a bohemian musical act from Germany. During their heyday of the early 1980s, they dropped “Seven Tears” in 1981. And it proved to be the only of their songs to top the UK Singles Chart, although they did experience more tenured success in other countries (such as Germany and Austria).
“Seven Tears” was written by the following writers:
- Wolfgang Jass
- Wolff-Ekkehardt Stein
And the name of the producer of the track is Jochen Peterson.
This is from the band’s third album, which is entitled “Holiday in Paradise”. And its labels are CBS Records and Epic Records.
