“Teeth of the Hydra” by Steve Vai

As some readers already know, the hydra is the name of a fictional, multi-headed creature which came to us via Ancient Greek mythology. Steve Vai is actually a guitarist (and this song, an instrumental). And you know that long part of the guitar that players hold to keep the instrument steady? That is what is referred to as its neck. It just so happens that Steve – being the skilled, tenured guitarist that he is – has a guitar with three necks, thus making it basically three guitars in one

The said instrument, according to Guitar World, is referred to as the “triple-neck Ibanez Hydra”. So of course he named this track so because he used that selfsame instrument in rendering this song.

Steve Vai is a guitarist from Long Island, New York who throughout the years has worked with a number of better-known musical acts. However, he has also been dropping his own albums since 1984’s “Flex-Able”.

“Teeth of the Hydra” is from Via’s 10th studio LP, a project entitled “Inviolate” that was put out by Favored Nations Entertainment on 28 January 2022.

This song was composed exclusively by Steve.
