The Smashing Pumpkins

American musical collective The Smashing Pumpkins was started in the city of Chicago in 1988.  This group’s current lineup is made up of the following musicians:

  • Billy Corgan
  • Jimmy Chamberlin
  • James Iha
  • Jeff Schroeder

In May 1991 the band came out with their first album entitled “Gish”. In October 1995 they issued one of their biggest projects “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”, which is their third studio album. This record became the band’s first number 1 hit in the US. It also topped album charts in numerous other regions, as well as peaking at number 4 in the UK.

The Smashing Pumpkins are a multiple Grammy award-winning group. In 1997 they were honored with the “Best Hard Rock Performance” award for their song titled “Bullet with Butterfly Wings”. In 1998, the group was adjudged winners of the same category for their “The End Is the Beginning Is the End” song.
