“To the Moon” by Jnr Choi

Judging by the simplicity and repetitiveness of the lyrics of “To the Moon”, this would definitely be a dance song. Moreover, even though the primary addressee is a sexual interest/partner of Jnr Choi’s, for the most part he is using the opportunity of the song to big up himself. 

For instance, the titular astronomical body actually serves as a metaphorical reference to the narrator and how he ‘shines’. Jnr then proceeds to reveal that he’s “paid”, i.e. having money, apparently being inspired to chase dough by an economically-challenging past. 

And concerning the aforementioned addressee, without going into too much detail, let’s just say Choi is so impressed with a certain body part of hers that he’s ready to settle down.

So again, there is nothing even remotely complicated by “To the Moon”. This is a song which Jnr Choi, who is currently a new artist on the scene, wrote himself, and it is apparent that either he doesn’t have a lot of experience songwriting and/or is trying to emulate a simplistic club/dance track. 

Either way he has already managed to establish himself on the music scene, and we should be hearing a lot more from him in the future.

Who is Jnr Choi?

There doesn’t seem to be much information about Jnr Choi readily available as of the dropping of this track. The only concrete information about him is the fact that he’s from West Africa (Gambia to be exact). He made a name for himself in London as a model before transitioning into music. Also, he would be 22 years old as of the dropping of this track, and his debut single just came out in 2020.

The cover art to this track gives the impression that the title was derived from a tweet by American businessman Elon Musk. Musk concurrently ranks as the richest person in the world.
