“Holding Back” by BANKS
Concerning the titular metaphor or allegory or however one may choose to classify it, honestly it’s not abundantly clear what it’s supposed to mean as utilized within the context of this narrative. But apparently what’s going down is that the addressee is akin to the vocalist’s ex, and Banks is entreating him to come back into her life on the romantic tip.
And what’s inferred throughout though especially in the second verse is that when they did break up or whatever happened, it was due to their being hostility between the two of them. So that is why Banks is assuring her beau that now it doesn’t have to be like that.
Or let’s conclude by saying that being separated from the addressee has caused the vocalist to realize just how much she loves him, in that she has no desire to be with anybody else.
