“A.P.I.D.T.A.” by Jay Electronica (ft. JAY-Z)

It is Jay-Z who actually holds down most of the lyrical content of “A.P.I.D.T.A.”, as in the chorus and post-chorus. The chorus is based on him looking forward to meeting dearly-departed loved ones in the afterlife. And the post-chorus centers on the rapper being troubled in his soul, even though he obviously understands that such is not ideal.

Meaning of “A.P.I.D.T.A.”

And Jay Electronica’s singular verse picks up on a similar theme, where he is gripped by a depression that even “a Xanny bar”, i.e. Xanax, can’t alleviate.  Then he goes about detailing such. But what this all leads back to is Electronica cleaving more strongly to his religious beliefs. Indeed the title of this track is an acronym which actually reads All Praise Is Due to Allah, with such being a popular term amongst adherents of the Islamic faith, as is Jay Electronica.

So overall we can say that “A.P.I.D.T.A.” is a track with a strong spiritual foundation. The artists recognize life is troubled and finite and are apparently seeking some relief amidst such.
