Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette actually released her first album, “Alanis”, in 1991. It proved notably successful in her homeland of Canada as did her sophomore project, “Now Is the Time” (1992). But it was her third album, “Jagged Little Pill” (1995), which made her an international superstar. In fact it was one of the top albums of the entire 1990s, topping the UK Albums Chart, Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart.  Said project also produced “Hand in My Pocket“, which even some decades later remains Morissette’s signature tune.

But this is not imply that Alanis is a one-hit wonder. Indeed her 1998 album, “Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie” and 2002 effort, “Under Rug Swept”, also scored number ones on the Canadian Albums Chart and Billboard 200. And overall she has remained one of Canada’s most-recognized and best-selling musicians. Along those same lines she also became an American citizen in 2005.

Interesting to note is that Alanis dated Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds throughout a good portion of the early-2000s. In fact they were actually engaged for a few years.  However, the relationship did not actually result in marriage. And Morissette has gone on to state that her seventh-studio album, “Flavors of Entanglement”, was actually inspired by her grief.
