“All The Things I Hate About You” by Huddy 

Usually when analyzing songs which seem as if they may be speaking to romantic beef between real-life celebrities, we try our best not to get caught up in the prevailing gossip and clickbait. However, some cases, such as this one (“All the Things I Hate About You”), are exceptions. Why? Because it’s made abundantly clear that the vocalist is not addressing a personification or striving for general applicability but rather leaves the listener with no choice but to conclude that he’s very much talking about a specific person. 

And that person, according to the gossip sites, would be known other than Charli D’Amelio, Huddy’s ex who also for a time, as you may already know, had the most-followed account on the entirety of TikTok.

With that fact being observed, this post is not designed to feign any type of intimate foreknowledge of said relationship or even said celebrities. Instead, our focus is on what the vocalist is saying about the addressee and how that would fit into the context of a breakup that’s as troubled as this one appears to be.

The Vocalist

So with that in mind, the simplest way of describing the vocalist is as one of those dudes who’s basically mad at his ex for dumping him. But his pain is exacerbated by a number of different factors. And all of us know guys like this – or may have even gone through such a psychological experience ourselves. 

The love is real alright, but once things go sour you start seeing your partner through a different lens. Or let’s say that actions and attitudes you may have readily accepted in the past, now seem like the biggest sins in the world.

Or put another way, there’s an old saying that goes ‘familiarity breeds contempt’. So it’s like if you grow to dislike a person, the more you know about them, then the more ammo you have to subsequently hate them. This song commences along those lines, with Huddy noting that the addressee “got everybody fooled”, apparently into believing that she’s more pious than she actually is. 

But since he’s angry and knows her better than we do, now the cat’s out of the bag. Also in hindsight, the vocalist feels as if he sold himself short by enduring her toxicity when they were together.

Addressee has moved on to another man

But going back to how guys feel in the aftermath of getting cut off and/or cheated on, as it seems the vocalist was, what tends to get dudes in their feelings more than anything is their girl moving on to another guy. 

Well in the case of Huddy and Charli, that other guy is one Landon Barker, who is also a known friend of the vocalist, thus prompting him to colorfully refer to the addressee as a “homie hopper” in the second verse. And no, it doesn’t necessarily look like Huddy and Landon were besties. But they obviously had a seriously-budding relationship – well, that is until all of this happened.

In Conclusion

So putting all of this into layman’s terms, Huddy feels he was ‘stabbed in the back’ and that his sweetheart basically dumped him for his friend. And that’s why he has set about blowing up Charli’s spot or as he puts it, listing ‘all the things he hates about her’ – in addition to bringing it to Landon also. 

And to reiterate, we are not compelled to go into deep lyrical detail, since this beef is in fact personal. You, the reader, are free to listen to the song and hear how Huddy goes about dissing the two, besides what has been mentioned above. But we will close by saying that , as you’re likely already aware, such tracks are becoming increasingly standard in the music industry.

Chase Hudson, aka Huddy, is technically a TikToker turned professional musician. He actually landed a recording contract with Interscope in 2020.  As of this writing, the 18 year old has over 32,000,000 followers on the platform. 

He dropped an actual studio album in 2021, that being “Teenage Heartbreak”. 

“All The Things I Hate About You”

This particular song is reportedly from the deluxe edition of the aforementioned project. And the track itself was released on 29 July 2022, via a label called Half Blood Records.

Huddy wrote this song with Wes Period, and its producer is Erik Ron. The track’s music video was directed by Mooch.

Landon Barker

To note, Landon Barker, who is also concurrently 18 years old (as is Charli D’Amelio), is actually the son of someone whose name you’ll come across more frequently in this blog, celebrity drummer Travis Barker.
