Amber Run’s “I Found” Lyrics Meaning

Amber Run’s “I Found” is a tender, emotional piece centered on an experience of romantic self-discovery in the life of the vocalist. But unfortunately, as the old saying goes he learned the hard way. And what it is that he “found” out on the field of love is that apparently getting smitten too fast is a no-no.

And the reason this song is so sad, if you will, is because of its underlying implications. For instance, love at first sight is a real thing. Or viewed alternatively, the person many of us end up with is probably someone who, like initially we didn’t know whether the relationship would work out or not. 

Or getting more to the point, the nature of really and truly falling in love by default leaves us emotionally defenseless. That is to say that if you end up giving your heart to another, then logically there’s only so much you can practically do to guard it from said individual.

So it’s as if on one hand, we know Joshua will now proceed more cautiously when it comes to matters of the heart, considering that such an idea more or less serves as the thesis sentiment of this piece. But on the other there’s this sense of futility, like how careful can a person really be when it comes to falling in love anyway? 

So ultimately it becomes pretty clear, even if never forthrightly stated, that the singer is heartbroken. And accordingly, despite the sentiments expressed the primary addressee of this outpouring is actually his ex. 

So it’s almost as if, in addition to looking forward to a less-than-ideal romantic future, the vocalist is also desiring a sympathetic response from the woman who put him in this position.

Amber Run isn’t the name of an individual but rather that of an entire band from Nottingham, England. And this track is from their debut album, 2014’s “5am”.

“I Found” is a song that initially Amber Run was sorta reluctant to release as a single. But as it stands, even after the band has dropped five EPs and three LPs, this track remains their biggest hit, having been certified silver in the UK and even more impressively, all things considered, platinum in the United States.

This track has also been featured on at least a couple of television shows.

Amber Run frontman and co-founder Joshua Keogh wrote this song. And its producer is tenured behind-the-scenes’ man Mike Crossey.

“5am” by Amber Run

“5am” is a 17-tracked album by Amber Run, a British rock band from the English city of Nottingham. The album’s official release happened on the 20th of April, 2015. It was released as Amber’s debut studio album and shares the same title with its 8th track, “5am”.

Livingston Studios, a recording studio in the British capital, London, served as host to the band during recording. Renowned Irish record producer, Mike Crossey was in charge of its production and has been credited to that effect. Sony Music’s RCA Records was responsible for the album’s official release.

Aside from the release of a number of a number of singles to support the album, the band embarked on an European tour shortly after its release to further create awareness for it.

“5am” peaked at No. 36 on the OCC in the UK.
