“Black Balloon” by Goo Goo Dolls

The lyrics of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Black Balloon”, find the narrator addressing a romantic interest. But more to the point of the actual story being told, she is a drug addict. And basically, what he seems to be doing throughout is sympathizing with her situation, not only in terms of her addiction but also her life in general. And the general understanding is that John Rzeznik actually wrote this track about someone he knew, perhaps even the ex-wife of his bandmate, Robby Takac.
