“Crash” by McFly

The lyrics of “Crash” basically revolve around the vocalist predicting his own downfall in a track which Tom Fletcher describes as “another self-indulgent song about self-loathing”. Earlier, he refers to himself as being “weak” and “foolishly stuck in a rut”. Furthermore, he is confident that when his “fall” does ultimately occur, it “will be heard for miles”.

Besides for such assertions the second verse, even if only briefly, does imply that this has something to do with the addressee. All associated lyrics considered, it reads as if this individual is the vocalist’s romantic interest and one whom he had a contentious time with when she was around. The wording states that he ‘misses’ her, and maybe the addressee’s absence is what’s causing Tom’s present melancholy, but the second line of the second verse is painfully-difficult to decipher.

“And the fall may take a while
But the crash will be heard for miles
Another self indulgent song about self loathing, I’m imploding”
