“Taking Back Tonight” by McFly
The title is symbolic of the vocalist’s resolution to, more frankly put, make an effort to reclaim dreams that he previously gave up on. What has apparently spurred him to this point, i.e. being willing to go all-out in pursuit of a goal that he obviously failed at before, is his life in the present proving very much less-than-ideal.
So it’s as if Tom Fletcher has reached a stage where he’s so frustrated that he must make some type of powermove to rectify the situation. Or put otherwise, the singer has decided to channel his pent-up frustration in a productive direction as opposed to letting it destroy him. And said direction would seemingly be along the lines of reigniting the confidence that he and likeminded individuals can in fact achieve something great.
