“Dangerous” by Jay Gwuapo

The titular adjective (“Dangerous”) is apparently meant to be applied to Jay Gwuapo and his homeys. Simply put, they are a “dangerous group” of characters who are living the street life hardcore. For instance, Jay depicts himself as someone who is “in for whatever beef it is”. That means that any type of trouble his gang may get into, he is ready to get physically involved to resolve it.

Also he presents himself as someone who is on the run from the police, even ‘almost crashing the whip’, i.e. his car, in the process. And outside of settling beef, he is using his gun “for pesos”, insinuating that he’s involved in some type of street-based, criminal-commercial activity. He also lets it be known that he enjoys Percocet and apparently grass.

Conclusion

So basically, “Dangerous” reads like your typical thug-rap song. One other notable lyric though is he threatens those who “talk about Pop Smoke”. With this line, he is basically warning people who may say bad things about the aforementioned rapper who was shot dead a month before this track was released. And in that regard, the reason that Jay is doing so is because it seems both he and Smoke are affiliated with a Brooklyn-based street gang called the Woo.

When was this song released?

“Dangerous” was released by From Nothing Records on 16 March 2020.
