“Dear No One” by Tori Kelly
In this song, Tori Kelly depicts herself as an “independent” lady. And for the most part, she is quite content with the freedom this type of lifestyle entails. However, there are times when she ‘just wants somebody to hold’. Or stated differently, she suffers from loneliness on the romantic tip. And as such, whereas she is once again cool with things the way they are, she also wouldn’t mind having a significant other in her life. However, the individual who fits the bill has yet to be definitively identified. Yet she is directing the lyrics towards that person.
But considering that she does not actually know who he is, then she is compelled to address this track to “Dear No One”. In other words, the titular “No One” is her future partner, who she doesn’t yet know by name. And what she is telling this currently-unknown individual is basically that she wants a true, lasting love. But for now, she is once again content with how her life is progressing. Yet simultaneously she is looking forward to the day when she will indeed be blessed with that special someone.

This is the first and only single that was released from Tori Kelly’s second EP, “Foreword”. And Capitol Records did so on 23 October 2013.
Jon Jon Augustavo, a filmmaker from Seattle, handled the reins on the Brooklyn-based music video to “Dear No One”.
In addition to singing the tune, Kelly served as both the writer and producer of “Dear No One”.
