“Life by the Sea” by Tubbo (ft. CG5)

All lyrics considered, it would seem that the title of this song (“Life by the Sea”) is based more on a fantasy than reality. In other words, the term “life by the sea”, as utilized, appears to symbolize the vocalist’s desire for and vision of a simpler life. 

And truth be told, the lyrics presented are quite mature for a 17 year old, and we may even say for a YouTuber-turned-musician in general. They are existential in nature and sort of tread this line between the adult world and that of a child, as indicative of the artist’s age. 

But the conclusion is that even though he may not have to deal with the full-fledged pressures that are part and parcel of the former, the vocalist still has to contend with his fair share of stresses nonetheless. 

Indeed Tubbo is able to perceive that such internal discontent, if you will, is common in the human experience. That’s why, amidst recognizing that he “need(s) a little bit of the breeze”, i.e. relief, he also states that, at the end of the day, “we all need to take a break”.

Who is Tubbo? and “Life by the Sea”

As of the release of this track on 27 August 2021, Tubbo is a 17 year old social media personality who is known primarily as a YouTuber that plays Minecraft. His personal YouTube channel has nearly 3,000,000 subscribers. 

And the teenager, who comes from the UK, also has over 4,000,000 registered followers on the more videogame-oriented Twitch. This is as of the release of his “Life by the Sea” song.

As of late more and more YouTubers, TikTokers etc. are taking a chance in the music field. And “Life by the Sea” marks the first time Tubbo has thrown his hat into the ring. But to note, he is part of a Minecraft crew known as Dream SMP along with fellow English Twitch streamer Wilbur Soot, who himself has had notable success as a musician earlier in 2021. 

Also, according to Wikitubia, Tubbo is actually “an avid musician” who knows how to play a number of instruments, in addition to taking music lessons, including the sax, at this very moment. However, it is not he who holds down the saxophone playing on this track but a saxophonist from the Netherlands named Karsten Belt.

“Life by the Sea” was produced by another YouTuber who goes by the name CG5. And he also wrote the song with Tubbo and a rapper known as Dan Bull.
