“Livin’ on the Edge” by Aerosmith

The titular phrase and chorus of the song most likely alludes to living a sort of risky or dangerous lifestyle that is far from what is originally classified as morally right. The singer seems to shed light on the fact that there is a lot of reversal in the system since what was initially thought of as wrong is becoming the norm. Although he recognizes that things have changed drastically, he makes fun of people who predict that the end is near by referencing the famous folk tale Chicken Little.

Facts about “Livin’ on the Edge”

Livin’ on the Edge was produced by Bruce Fairbairn, written by Marc Hudson, Joe Perry and Steven Tyler. The band then released it on March 23, 1993 as the fifth track on their 1993 album Get A Grip.

In the autobiography, Walk This Way, Aerosmith reveals that the track took inspiration from the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Said riots occurred after the white policemen accused of bartering Rodney King were cleared.

The three drum hits heard at the end of the track were apparently made with a bass drum Tyler stole from Roosevelt High School after playing for their senior prom.

The track won a Grammy in 1994. Tyler, in 2018 requested that Trump put an end to playing Livin’ on the Edge at his campaign rallies.

He’s not poking fun..he’s saying in the face of a tragedy real or hype, we all go running back to our prayers. He never said either way that time wasn’t near.. That is solely one persons interpretation. We as humanity will fail period because we cant help ourselves..Something wrong with our eyes..we all get high anymore. Couldn’t nor wouldn’t be able to stop what we’ve started. He is saying hang onto your mDawnorals, don’t give in, keep hanging on..Agree or not he is trying to tell us something.for certain.

What used to be wrong, now seems to be right in so many cliques. We certainly are living on the edge of moral collapse.
