Meaning of “그런 일은 (Such a thing)” by Paul Blanco

“그런 일은 (Such a thing)” is most simply put a breakup song. It is a breakup song in which the singer is lamenting having lost his sweetheart, the addressee. It is also one of those types in which Paul believes that as time progresses, his ex will come to realize that she made a mistake in apparently leaving him.  And in that regard it may also be implied that she’s done something like this, i.e. leave and come back, before.

But for the time being, Blanco has obviously become devoid of the woman he loves, very much against his own heart’s desire. And the title, based on this less-than-ideal translation, apparently alludes to the singer refusing to believe that this relationship may indeed be done for good.

“오늘은 안돼요
내 사랑이 이대로는
이별을 감당하긴 어려운걸요
많은 약속을 다 지울 순 없잖아요
아직도 해드릴게, mm, 참 많이 있는데”

Who is Paul Blanco?

Let’s chat about our main man, Paul Blanco (or as you might see it, 폴 블랑코). Born and bred in Toronto, this dude dived into the music scene via SoundCloud back in 2016. Rapper, singer, and an absolute whiz with those silky smooth vocals – Paul’s your guy. Not to brag on his behalf, but he’s been the mastermind behind his tunes and even lent a hand to buddies like CHANGMO and Jack Harlow. Remember the jam “Last” from 2018? Yep, that was his official breakout under the Masquerade banner.

Fast forward a bit, and he drops “Lake of Fire,” an EP in 2019, leading up to his album, “Mine,” in 2020. Some of his catchy tracks include collaborations like “Amazing” (alongside UNEDUCATED KID) and “Closer” where he pairs up with BTS’ RM (yeah, big deal, right?).

Currently, he’s rolling with the Ambition Musik crew. But here’s the kicker: Paul’s not just chasing the limelight. He’s all about making music that resonates, aiming to be that artist you genuinely vibe with rather than just another face in the crowd. Rock on, Paul!
