In “Mama Cry”, YNW Melly sings from the standpoint of someone serving time in prison. Or to be more specific, Melly composed this song when he was literally locked up back in 2017. In it, he is imploring his mother not to lament over the fact that he is incarcerated.

I am a 53 ye old mom n my son dedicated this song to me b4 he went to prison on 3 to 10 yrs. I love this song and play it often as well as a few of his other ones. Melly is a very talented person with his music. My son got into listening to his music. Mama cry is my favorite song. Saying prayers for Melly, his mom cuz I know how she feels.
