“Mood” by Makar

“Mood” is a dance song, and perhaps it can be said a pretty-unique one in terms of its lyrical approach. For instance, we don’t have a vocalist starting off, as usual, by putting forth a desire to boogie. Rather, he presents himself as being ‘fatigued’, i.e. tired. But the “vibe” in the house is so good that he’s forsaking this exhaustion and is rather preoccupied with a “mood” he’s in, apparently along the lines of wanting to be close to the addressee.

It is possible, all lyrics considered, that said addressee is not a person but rather symbolic of “drugs”. Indeed, the second verse does make it pretty clear that Makar wants to get high. However, he does appear to be in this “mood” alongside some companions, who may themselves be the overall addressee.

So let’s conclude by saying that this is probably a song in which the lyrics aren’t intended to make too much sense per se. For instance, we can probably speculate that the vocalist being ‘fatigued’ is from the aftereffects of drugs to begin with. But the wording, like any good European dance song if you will, doesn’t really focus on the intricacies of the narrative or even dancing. Instead, we just know that the vocalist is really feeling the addressee and seemingly wants to get high with her, him or them.

When was “Mood” released?

“Mood” came out on 4 August 2022, and as of this writing, a couple of days afterwards, readily available information on this song and the artists associated with it appears to be very scant. What is evidently the case is that Makar is a hip-hop musician from the Netherlands, and so are Ryder & Seno as well as KNGZ, who are the producers of the track.

Furthermore, Makar wrote this piece alongside one Warasdat Ivanov, and the music video’s producer is a Dutch company known as CineShotz.
