“No Auto Blanco” by Lil Kim

It is difficult to deduce exactly what the title of this Lil Kim track means, but based on the first line, the word “Blanco” seems like it may be based on a character from Al Pacino’s gangster classic Carlito’s Way (1993) who was also in “the mob”.

But to really understand the title of this track, the reader must be made aware that “Kimmy Blanco” is one of Lil Kim’s aliases. Thus the titular “Blanco” is actually a reference to herself. And in this track, she is going back to her origins of straight rapping without the assistance of auto-tune, with the Queen Bee being criticized in the past due to her heavy usage of this controversial technology.

Lil Kim’s lyrics read like a freestyle in that this track consists of a singular verse which is much longer than the standard 16-bar rap and is not interrupted by any hooks or choruses. The song is basically based on how thoro the Queen Bee is. In other words, she is letting both “bi**hes” and “ni**as” know that if they rub her the wrong way, it is going to get “like the mob out here”. Indeed fans of Lil Kim have noticed how, content-wise, this track is reminiscent of earlier in the Queen Bee’s career, when she was coming straight out the ‘hood.

One noteworthy mention is that near the end of the track Lil Kim gives a shoutout to hermentor, the late Notorious B.I.G., who she refers to by his alias “Frank (White)”. It’s noteworthy to mention that B.I.G. was instrumental in jumpstarting Kim’s rap career.

And the Queen Bee assures that she is going to “keep (his) name alive”. But then she concludes within the same subject range the overwhelming majority of this track is based on – by referring to the “apes” (i.e. street thugs) who are at her beck and call just in case some drama jumps off.
