Richard Ramirez, popularly known as Valley Intruder or Night Stalker (as his attacking spree first clustered at night in the San Gabriel Valley), was an American serial killer who killed, raped, tortured, and kidnapped over a dozen people during his lifetime.
Ramirez’s older cousin, Miguel, exposed him to violent life at a very young age. At age 13, Ramirez had already learned how to smoke weed and abuse alcohol. He also witnessed his cousin kill his wife in their room.
Ramirez was first arrested in 1977 for drug possession, and he dropped out of school in the ninth grade. He then developed a strong interest in Satanism and started using LSD. Ramirez invaded many houses and went on a murder spree in the Greater Los Angeles area and the San Francisco Bay Area in the 80s.
During his evil adventures, he carried many different weapons including tire irons, handguns, claw hammers and more. His actions led to his arrest in 1985. In 1989, he was convicted of 13 murder counts, 5 attempted murders, 14 theft crimes, and 11 sexual assaults. He never showed remorse for his crimes during his trials, as the judge described his actions as beyond human understanding.
Ramirez spent over two decades on death row and died from B-cell lymphoma in prison on June 7, 2013.
