“Talk” by Yeat

Yeat is a rapper who, by the looks of things, may be on the verge of a really-big breakthrough. Or if nothing else, as illustrated by the intro to this track (“Talk”), he has garnered a loyal fanbase. And by and large, it can be said that such is what this song is about, i.e. the vocalist celebrating his come-up, in a manner of speaking. But all lyrics considered, he does seem to be exaggerating quite a bit, a practice which is of course not unheard of in the world of hip-hop.

That said, it should be noted that the sole actual verse of this track does steer the listener in a different direction, away from wealth-based boasting, even if only briefly. The vocalist instead uses this passage, at least in part, to express his strong disdain for ‘rats’, i.e. informers, to the point that he’s basically threatening to murder one who he’s personally associated with. Indeed, there is an ample amount of guntalk floating around in this piece also.

So conclusively, we can say that some of Yeat’s metaphors are a bit unique. But from a lyrical standpoint, it obviously isn’t his mission to bring anything new to the rap game.

Lyrics for Yeat's "Talk"

Yeat

Yeat is a rapper who traces his professional origins back to his teenage years living and schooling in Oregon. He made a name for himself via the social-media circuit. In 2021, he dropped his first studio album, “Up 2 Më”. Its follow-up, 2022’s 2 “Alivë”, fared much better, as it for example broke the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

So on the heels of that success, the young emcee released the song “Talk”, which is from his third studio album “Lyfë”.

When was “Talk” released?

“Talk” came out on 2 September 2022 as a single. It is backed backed by UMG, Interscope, Field Trip Records and Yeat’s own label, which is known as TwizzyRich.

Yeat first got around to previewing this song in mid-June 2022, with said snippet reportedly achieving TikTok virality before the track’s release.

Did Yeat write “Talk”?

Yes. He wrote it with a music producer named BNYX, the latter of who also produced it.

FYI:

For the record, the most-notable single in the rapper’s discography up until this point is “Rich Minion” (2022), a track that was associated with the movie Minions: The Rise of Gru.
