“Meteorite” by BANKS
BANKS’ “Meteorite” is a somewhat complex love song for two reasons. First is that the lyrics are highly metaphorical. Secondly, usually when we deal with such cases of a vocalist expressing romantic desire for an addressee, the former is looking forward to something like a monogamous relationship. But in this case, it seems as if Banks already knows that the apple of her eye has other romantic interests or, more simply put, is akin to a playa.
However, she doesn’t come off as the type to get intimidated by that reality. Instead, the vocalist can be quite naughty herself and even digs it when she and the addressee “do something real bad”. And the further implication, based on the chorus and how the titular metaphor is utilized therein, seems to be that Banks is mainly interested in this individual for sexual reasons.
So conclusively, what she appears to be telling him is that she will meet him where he wants to be met. If the addressee wants to play it smooth, then the vocalist can do the same. But if in contrast he decides to “bite”, she’s ready to go that route also. In fact all lyrics considered, it would appear that Banks actually prefers the darker side.
