“Bartender” by Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s “Bartender” is a song about Lana’s romantic relationship with the titular “bartender”. The track seems to serve the dual purpose of not only giving a shoutout to said association but also serving as a critique of paparazzi. That is to say that Del Rey has made a conscientious effort to keep this particular relationship out of the eyes of the media.

But overall, it seems like a flirty type of romance which she likes playing love games with the bartender. They seem to meet each other regularly in certain social settings, i.e. “parties”. But Del Rey does not want it to be known that they’re actually seeing each other. In fact, their association reads more like a long-term booty call, one in which Lana really has no intentions of ever taking public.

But that doesn’t mean that the love isn’t real.  The singer is definitely feeling the bartender. But for reasons of her own – such as in the name of fun and avoiding unwanted attention – she has decided to keep those sentiments for the most part a secret.
