“Growing Old With You” by Restless Road

“Growing Old With You” can be classified as a proposal song and more specifically one in which the vocalist delineates his ideological view of what the perfect marriage looks like. And he is doing so to the addressee (his romantic interest), evidently for the purpose of trying to convince her that she should indeed take his hand and jump the broom. That’s because, being thoroughly smitten by this lady, the vocalist has decided that she is one who he wants to ‘grow old with’, i.e. make his lifelong mate.

Restless Road

Restless Road is a country music group from Nashville that has been around since the early 2010s. This act actually traces its origins back to participating on The X Factor in 2013 and being put together by Simon Cowell himself.

Two of Restless Road’s founders, Zach Beeken and Colton Pack, are still members of the group as of the release of “Growing Old with You” on 21 January 2022. And since 2015, they’ve been joined by Garrett Nichols.

Even though they’ve been around for a while, reportedly this is Restless Road’s “first official radio single”. Indeed based on their Wikipedia page, the group has only released on EP to date, a self-titled effort in 2020.

The writers of this song are Jordan Minton, Jordan Reynolds and Charles Kelly. The latter, who is a member of Lady A (aka Lady Antebellum), is recognized as the tune’s primary author. And the producer of this track is Jerod Keim.

Restless Road performed this song on a January 2022 episode of The Bachelor.

According to Beeken, this song is popularly used by couples for their weddings. He even went as far as saying that shortly after the song’s release, the band actually performed the song at a wedding – during the couple’s first dance.
