“Hard Days” by Brantley Gilbert

Brantley Gilbert’s “Hard Days” is based on the singer appreciating the bad days as well as the good. And there are various reasons why he feels this way. For instance, in the first verse, he alludes to the notion that individuals tend to commit themselves more to becoming a better person after they have “hit rock bottom”.

And in the second verse he puts forth the idea that it would be hard to differentiate successes from failures if a person had not experienced the latter in the past. Indeed the general idea this song is based on is that victories are made sweeter when the road that led to them was marked by various hardships and setbacks. Owing to this, the underlying moral of the track is that a person should not become discouraged if they occasionally fail. And why? Because at the end of the day he or she will be able to look back on those incidences and realize it was such that actually gave them the strength to press on.

FYI

Brantley released this song as a standalone single in June 2020. And apparently the reason he did so is because he felt it has a message which needs to be heard during this particular juncture in history.

He co-wrote “Hard Days” with the following four writers:

  • J. Bell
  • L. Wall
  • B. Berryhill
  • J. Brunswick
