The singer demonstrates his initial efforts to keep the relationship going, as well as his desire to deal with the existing problem. The concern however is that his partner appears not to be as keen as he is to discuss and reach an agreement. He remains unwilling to give up on their love and asks his lover to give them another chance by having a truthful and intimate conversation with him.

Kenny Loggins wrote it with two iconic songwriters: David Foster and Michael McDonald of The Doobie Brothers fame. The latter also sang the track’s background vocals.

Regarding the song’s production, Loggins teamed up with music producer Bruce Botnick to handle it.

Release Date and Album

Columbia Records released this song in November 1982. It appears as the sixth track on the album High Adventure. High Adventure came out in September of that same year as Loggins’ fourth studio album.

Performance on the Charts

 The song was successful in the United States, considering it peaked at number 15 on the Hot 100. It also saw success in Canada. There, it reached number 1 on the country’s RPM Contemporary chart.

Saxophone Solo on “Heart to Heart”

The notable saxophone solo on the track was played by renowned American saxophonist David Sanborn.
